This might be the most girly collection of products that I’ve ever put together and there is almost no chance that I would wear pink on my eyes, cheeks, and lips at the same time, but a hint of pink is so pretty, especially when the sun is out.
Starting with the eyes, the shadow pans are the NYX Hot Singles refill in Sin and the Makeup Geek Foiled shadow in Whimsical. The NYX pans are such good value, at £2.50 each, although you do need a palette to put them in. The texture really doesn’t feel cheap and it’s such a pretty colour to fling all over the eyes and be done. The MUG foiled shadows are incredible – they’re so soft and pigmented that they almost feel creamy, and Whimsical is a gorgeous shade with a super high shimmer. Very un-me, but I love it.
The two shadow sticks are the ArtDeco High Performance Eyeshadow in Frozen Rose and the GOSH Forever Metallic Shadow Stick in Silver Rose. Both are brilliant for a good old scribble’n’go makeup, and neither crease or flake when put over a primer. The ArtDeco isn’t available in that shade any more but the Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow is pretty similar. Also, how cute are the Spectrum brushes? Who wouldn’t want a mermaid brush?
Pink blusher is my favourite way to perk up my pale skin when I’m knackered and my current two favourites are the Burberry Skin Light Glow Blush in Misty and the NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Natural (don’t get me started on that shade name). The Burberry is really subtle but the blue undertone works wonders at brightening, and the NYX is a surprisingly nice texture for a bargain cream. It blends out really nicely and although it doesn’t dry down to a powder finish, I find that it sticks around for most of the day, even without powdering.
The lip products I’ve chosen are the Jouer Lip Créme in Pétale de Rose, the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in Devotion, and the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Pink Punch. I mentioned that I was trying the Jouer here and I can confirm that it’s pretty darn great. It smells like Mr Whippy, the doe foot applicator is easy to use, and the stuff lasts for ages before fading evenly. What more do you need from a liquid lipstick?
The Revlon also dries to a matte finish but takes an age to get there – you can see in the swatch above that it’s still sheeny when the Jouer has already dried. The scent is a bit like Fruit Salads, I really like the applicator shape, which is a bit longer than usual, and the colour is gorgeous. The lasting power isn’t great but it doesn’t go clumpy or gunk up in the corner of your mouth. Which is nice. Finally the S&G Gloss Stick is a tiny product with quite the pop of colour; they’re only £3.50, all the shades are good, and they’re easy to wear. Hooray!
Is pink a colour you turn to in the sunny months?
