Lipstick love: Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer in Plum Pop

Clinique Color Pop lipstick and primer in Plum PopI do appear to be developing a tendency of buying lipsticks that, whilst not exactly the same colour, are definitely variations on a pink theme. I’m still not entirely comfortable wearing red on a day-to-day basis but pink, even brighter shades, seem easier and less attention-grabbing. I originally bought the Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer in Poppy Pop (can we have some shorter names soon please?) in a moment of madness – it’s a gorgeous colour but just too red/orange for me at the moment. I gave it away but I did love the formula when I tried it, so I picked up one in a more muted shade – Plum Pop.

It isn’t in any way what I think of as ‘plum’ but it is a really lovely slightly dusky colour. On me it looks just ‘done’ enough without being too obvious. The formula is great too; I don’t find it drying at all, even when I wear it several days in a row, it has a sheen without being shiny, and it fades evenly. I’m not sure that the primer part does anything, as the colour doesn’t last a particularly long time, but then I don’t find that non-matte lipsticks last ages on me anyway.

The shade range is impressive and I plan on getting Melon Pop and maybe Love Pop in the near future.

Find them in all the usual places, including Boots for a surprisingly affordable (for a premium brand) £16.00
