Edith is still my go-to everyday lippy but for days when I want a bit more colour, I turn to Vera. She’s from the (frankly enormous) Nars Audacious range, which promises full coverage colour in one swipe with a satin finish. Vera is described as a ‘bright raspberry’, which is pretty spot-on; I think she’s a lovely bright berry with enough pink to stop her being too autumnal, and is really very pigmented.
Vera isn’t as creamy or moisturising as Edith but a tiny bit of lip balm underneath sorts out any dryness. I’m still a lipstick newbie so I usually pat the colour on quite lightly and smoosh to sheer it out a bit. I have worn her ‘full throttle’ and she kept her sheen for about two hours before fading (pretty evenly) to a stain.
The packaging also deserves a mention: the tactile-but-smudge-prone rubberised Nars casing is out and a sleek metal tube is in. The magnetic lid hopefully means that it won’t ever come off in my bag (and is stupidly fun to play with).
Vera and her numerous pals are £24, available from all the usual places including Look Fantastic here.
