I’m not a fan of the first couple of months of the year. The weather’s a bit rubbish, I inevitably get several colds, and work is really busy so there’s no chance for any time off. All of this makes me want to submerge myself in a lovely hot bath as often as possible, preferably with a glass of wine and a book/magazine/Parks and Recreation on the laptop. These are my current favourite things to whack in the bath when I need to switch off and relax.
Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Bath Oil: this is my go-to for when I need to just be knocked out for the evening. Half an hour soaking in this sandalwood, camomile, and vetivert goodness works wonders for me. It is spendy but a full-size bottle lasts for ages and frankly I think the effect is well worth the price.
It’s usually £40.00 but Look Fantastic have it on offer for £31.99 at the moment – go go go!
Ila Bath Soak for Pure Relaxation: I loved my travel-size bottle of this and will definitely be getting a bigger one soon. It’s a dreamy combination of vetivert and petitgrain, with apricot which makes it super softening. It makes the bath water go milky and silky and it’s just lovely.
Love Lula have it for £9.60 and you get 15% off your first order.
Therapie Himalyan Detox Salts: I add some sort of salts to most of my baths; usually it’s a handful from a giant kilner jar that I keep stocked with various kinds that I buy in bulk from TK Maxx and mix together, but sometimes only the best will do. The Therapie Detox Salts are described as ‘a natural version of valium’ and they really feel like that.
The full-size is £37.00 but the 100g bags are enough to 2-3 baths and are a more reasonable £10.00.
Kneipp Lavender Balancing Herbal Bath: I wouldn’t recommend using this stuff unless you really like lavender – it’s pretty damn strong. It also turns the bath water bright blue, which is rather cheery, and is somehow both relaxing and uplifting.
Find it on Feel Unique for £9.95.
